Queensland Government sets Councils up to fail growth challenge
A new home will cost $5000 more as a result of the State Government scrapping a raft of subsidies designed to make housing more affordable.
Subsidies to roads, drains and street lighting were cut, effective from 1 July this year.
The scrapping of the State Government's water and sewerage subsidies to Councils from 2011 will cost SEQ Councils well over $60 million, and could force rates up higher. FULL STORY

Trail Bike Taskforce kick starts
The Council of Mayors (SEQ) Trail Bike Taskforce has kick-started its search for new trail bike facility sites in the SEQ region.
